We are pleased to announce that the Royal Borough of Greenwich has been awarded 1st place in the Good Food for London annual league table by the London Food Link of the Sustain alliance. This award is given to organisations that promote better food and farming, great nutritional value and display the highest sustainability and ethical values.
The 2017 report covers a range of topics including animal welfare, school catering, wastage and healthier food consumption. Lee Newton, Assistant Director of Operations and Tracey Parnwell, Projects & Purchasing Officer from GS Plus Ltd were present at the Good Food for London event held on the 13th October 2017 at London’s City Hall.
Greenwich achieved the maximum score in 8 out of 11 categories!
GS Plus are proud to reveal that our catering brand, Incito has actively contributed to the Royal Borough of Greenwich achieving 1st place in a number of those categories.
Our commitment to animal welfare means that we only source products where the animals have been raised in conditions that adhere to high welfare standards. We are holders of all four accreditations – the Good Pig, Good Egg, Good Chicken and Good Dairy awards.
We are proud that we are the only borough in London who have received all four awards and the first borough to receive the Good Pig Award!
In addition to this, we also contributed to the borough achieving full marks in other categories including sustainable fish, fairtrade food and improving food culture in schools.
We take an active, dedicated approach in effectively managing all areas of our food services to ensure that maximum quality and environmental/social benefits are realised. This includes proficient managing of our food supply chain, sourcing quality ingredients from local suppliers and evaluating food content for maximum health benefits.
